Interesting Side Note

I was talking to my mom, and mentioned this assignment in passing. She said:

"Gosh I would have no idea as to how to observe intercultural interaction. The idea makes me think of two clients I have - one from Ethiopia and one from Bangladesh. They both are very fluent in English, but while they understand the words, they often miss the meaning. So for each I'm thinking I will need an interpreter for proceedings even though their English is excellent."

I just thought that was interesting and appropriate to our topic--intercultural communication can be quite a challenge.
